Milient is currently seeking experience fullstack developers with growth ambitions to join our team in Hanoi, Vietnam.

We are hiring three Software Developers to join a growing product team based in our Hanoi office. You will work within a collaborative team that includes a Tech Lead and consultants based in Poland, contributing to both the maintenance and modernization of existing systems, as well as the development of new features on a MERN stack hosted in AWS.

While the role is full stack in nature, frontend support is available within the broader organisation, so a stronger backend or full stack profile is equally welcome.

A key workstream for this team is the identification and extraction of functional domains within the existing application, decomposing it into standalone, reusable modules that will underpin a broader product portfolio. This is a rare opportunity to combine legacy modernization with genuine greenfield architecture work.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain features across the full stack primarily using MongoDB, Express.js, React, and Node.js.
• Contribute to the gradual migration of legacy frontend code (jQuery and related technologies) toward modern frameworks and best practices.
• Play an active role in identifying and decomposing functional domains within the existing application into standalone, reusable modules – combining legacy modernization with greenfield architecture work to support a growing product portfolio.
• Collaborate closely with the Tech Lead, Polish-based consultants, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software.
• Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback to uphold coding standards.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code with appropriate test coverage.
• Identify and address technical debt as part of ongoing development work.
• Support deployment and monitoring of applications in AWS environments.
• Contribute to Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.

Desired skills and experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Proven experience as a Software Developer with deep proficiency in Node.js and server-side JavaScript; working knowledge of the broader MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React) is expected with Node.js being the primary focus
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design and integration.
• Familiarity with legacy frontend technologies, particularly jQuery.
• Experience with version control systems (Git) and collaborative development workflows.
• Comfortable using AI coding assistants (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor) as part of your day-to-day development workflow
• Understanding of software testing principles and experience writing unit or integration tests.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively across distributed, multicultural teams.

For Senior-level candidates, you should also have:

• Significant experience (typically 5+ years) delivering production software in full stack or backend-heavy roles.
• The ability to take ownership of complex technical problems and drive solutions with minimal guidance.
• Experience mentoring or informally supporting junior and mid-level developers.
• A track record of contributing to architectural decisions, technical documentation, and long-term code quality improvements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS services (e.g.: EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS) and cloud-native development practices.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Prior exposure to frontend migration projects or modernization initiatives.
• Experience with domain-driven design, modular architecture, or application decomposition (e.g: microfrontends, service extraction).
• Knowledge of security best practices in web application development
• Experience with agentic coding workflows, such as using AI tools to scaffold features, generate tests or automate repetitive tasks.
